Any member who has participated with regular attendance in a group for 3+ months is eligible to be a leader or assistant leader of a group
Leaders and assistant leaders make sure the meeting opens and closes in prayer, that the guidelines are read, that there is a balance of homework and sharing, and that all members get to share each week. They also monitor who is present and reach out to members who may have drifted in their consistent attendance to make sure everything is ok.
GTC believes in a "flat" model of leadership whereby there is depth to help cover times when leaders are absent, or when leaders need to step aside from leading for any number of personal or professional reasons.
Leaders and Assistant Leaders have professed a saving faith in Jesus Christ, have regularly attended a GTC group for at least 3 months, and consistently (though not perfectly) live above their sobriety line that they have shared with the group.
If a leader or assistant leader falls seriously below their sobriety line or enters into a sexually unhealthy experience with other people, they will step aside from their role as leader or assistant leader until such time as they have journeyed back to health. Leaders and assistant leaders are free to relinquish their role at any time as life circumstances, schedules, or just general malaise in leading can all be understandable situations that would warrant taking a break.
