How Does a group work?

Members Are Pursuing Health

Groups Consist of 6-10 People

Members Are Pursuing Health

Each person who joins GTC battles addiction, trauma, dysfunction, abuse or other sexual behaviors that participants realize are causing emotional harm to themselves and/or others.

Group is a Safe Space

Confessing is hard.  Your group members will share mercy, empathy, compassion and strength through listening and honest relationship.   Confidentiality is a key guideline that members agree to honor each time they show up.

We have found that this size allows for a good balance of sharing and study.   Each member has chosen to make attendance a high priority as a reflection of their desire for health.

30-45 minutes are spent on homework and roughly an hour on sharing weeks.  For a list of our Christian-based books that we read for homework and discussion, click here.

Groups Meet Year Round

Members Honor Public Spaces

Periodically, each member will be invited to share their testimony/journey in greater detail during the group time in lieu of homework.   Group meeting dates may be adjusted to accommodate holiday schedules.

Nothing shared in group can be shared outside of group in any form.  When we see other members in public, out of mutual respect, we do not reveal our connections to GTC.

Leaders Are Members, Not Trained Professionals

Leaders and assistant leaders are on the same journey as you and are responsible for opening and closing the group in prayer as well as facilitating the flow of the meeting.  To learn more about leaders and their responsibilities, click here.

Members Share Their "Lines"

Your "line" is comprised of simple "do's and don'ts" that you set to steer your behavior toward health each week.  Sharing honestly about your challenges and successes through the week gives each member the opportunity to trust that shame can give way to hope.

Transparency and Consistency

Transparency and Consistency

"Therefore, since you are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and sin that clings so closely and let us run with endurance the race set before us." Hebrews 12 encourages us to be transparent and consistently present.
